ADDICTION, IDENTITY, AND SURVIVAL COLLIDE IN LYLVC x JUDGE & JURY’S “BARELY HUMAN”

Ever looked at your own shadow and wondered if you’ll ever crawl out? “Barely Human,” the bruising rap metal collaboration from LYLVC and Judge & Jury, drags you through the darkness and dares you to scream back. This track is an uppercut, a confession, and an anthem for anyone who’s been one step from the edge.
The tension kicks in from the first note. Kane Churko’s production is razor-sharp, every riff and beat landing like a warning shot. Drummer Ryan Whitney Powell pounds out rhythms that feel like a racing pulse, while Cameron Ward Gillette’s guitars and synths layer on a cold, cinematic edge. The result is huge – every hit, every icy swirl, is right where it needs to be.
This track is a mirror into the mind of someone fighting to stay alive in a world that’s lost its soul. Lines about a sunless sky and shattered reflections go for the jugular. The song tears into addiction, self-destruction, and the horror of losing your own identity. “Barely Human” doesn’t flinch: sometimes survival means owning your scars and clawing your way back up.
Alyse Ann Zavala’s vocals swing from pleading to ferocious, giving the chorus a raw, desperate punch. Oscar Romero Lemus’s rap verses spit pure honesty and frustration, raising the stakes with every line. There’s a sense of masks slipping, of being trapped in your own head until the chorus detonates and everything comes loose. The refrain “Save me, I’m barely human” echoes like both a warning and a demand long after the song fades out.
