Have you ever loved someone in a way that made you feel steady, even when everything else around you felt chaotic? That is the feeling I get listening to The Wind (The Anchor) by Clearframe. It is not just a heavy song. It is a love song wrapped in distortion, grit, and emotional release.
Clearframe, based out of the Pacific Northwest, pull from post hardcore, post rock, metalcore, and even shoegaze, and you can hear all of it layered beautifully here. The track builds like an oncoming storm, guitars swelling into this massive melodic wall of sound while still leaving space to breathe. James Lott’s lead guitar work floats above everything with this almost cinematic quality, while Andrew John’s rhythm guitar and screams add that raw urgency. Jessy May’s bass keeps it grounded and Richard Metzger’s drums drive the whole thing forward with intensity that feels alive. Produced by David Green, the song sounds expansive but still intimate, like you are standing in the middle of it instead of just listening from the outside.
What makes it hit even harder is the meaning. Hannah Greene’s lyrics and vocals capture the kind of relationship that is not fragile. It is tested. It bends, but it does not break. The imagery throughout feels rooted in nature, wind and weight and holding firm through pressure. It is about choosing someone every day. I love that Clearframe are not romanticizing something shallow here, but celebrating commitment. The kind that survives storms.
