FALSE CONSTRUCTS REFUSE TO LET YOUR “CHROMA” FADE

August 24, 2026 by That Chick Krys

Have you ever cared about someone who could no longer see the future you still saw for them? False Constructs speak directly to that painful position on Chroma, a progressive metal song about trauma, lost self-belief and the courage it can take to accept an offered hand.

The lyrics never pretend recovery is simple. This person has fallen before, broken into pieces and become convinced that the same ending will repeat. Pain has narrowed their view until a path visible to others feels impossible to them. Rather than preaching from a comfortable distance, the narrator asks how to help and promises to remain close.

Colour becomes a beautiful symbol for identity and hope. “Don’t let your colours fade” recognizes that trauma can drain someone’s sense of possibility without suggesting their light has vanished completely. The chorus encourages emotional release, openness and freedom from a past that should not be allowed to decide the future.

False Constructs support that message with progressive metal that balances weight and melody. Heavy guitars communicate the scale of the struggle, while dynamic shifts make room for compassion in the vocals. Even the sudden “BLEGH” after the invitation to look at the stars feels like bottled pressure breaking open.

The later lyrics become especially moving. Memories still feel near, walls remain high and the person seems slightly out of reach, but the narrator continues to trust that they will make it through. “Take my hand” matters because it offers partnership instead of an easy answer. Coming home begins with letting somebody share the path.

Chroma will make listeners feel understood, supported and perhaps more willing to speak when they are struggling. False Constructs have written a powerful reminder that accepting help is not weakness. This song reaches into a dark place without denying its reality, then points toward the stars and insists there is still time for every hidden colour to return.
